INVESTIGATING THE FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE STUDENTS’ INTEREST IN MATHEMATICS LEARNING IN THE BOLE DISTRICT OF THE SAVANNAH REGION OF GHANA
    (2022) KATA MUHAMMED
This study aimed to investigate the factors that influence students' interest in mathematics learning in the Bole District of the Savannah Region of Ghana. The study involved 90 students and used both quantitative and qualitative research approaches. The sampling technique used was a combination of purposive and simple random sampling techniques to select 90 students from the three Senior High Schools. The data was collected through questionnaires, interviews, focus group discussion and observation, and analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings of the study showed that various factors influenced students' interest in mathematics learning, including teacher quality, teaching methods, parental involvement, and cultural attitudes towards mathematics. The study suggests that interventions such as professional development for teachers, student-centered teaching approaches, and parental education programs could improve students' interest in mathematics learning in the Bole District. The study provides insights into ways to promote students' interest in mathematics and improve their academic performance in the subject. These findings also have implications for mathematics education policies and practices in Ghana and other similar contexts. xii
