dc.description.abstractEffective handling of human resources in education is required for enhancing educational quality and overall growth. The major goal of the study, based on a quantitative cross-sectional research design, was to explore the effect of transformational leadership on teacher performance as mediated by motivation and employee engagement in public senior high schools in Kumasi, Ghana. Data for the study were successfully obtained from 855 teachers (a response rate of 62%) from senior high schools within the Kumasi Metropolitan Education Directorate in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, using face-to-face questionnaire administrations, supplemented with online Google Forms. With the aid of SPSS v. 23, data analysis took the form of frequencies, percentages, mean, standard deviation, reliability test (Cronbach’s Alpha), correlation, and regression. The study's findings demonstrated that transformational leadership directly and unambiguously has an effect on teacher performance. Furthermore, there was a weak correlation between teacher motivation and teacher performance, and the same was seen between teacher engagement and teacher performance. Additionally, the relationship between transformational leadership and teacher performance is influenced partially by teacher motivation. Also, teacher engagement partially influences the relationship between transformational leadership and teacher performance. To sum up, the study’s findings suggest that educational institutions should motivate teachers intrinsically and extrinsically, in addition to engaging them, in order to improve their overall performance.
