The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceived effect of classroom management techniques on academic performance of students from selected Senior High Schools in Western North Region. This study adopted a descriptive case study as well as quantitative research design to collect primary data, using semi structured questionnairesfrom 211 respondents who are teachers from selected Public Senior High Schools in Western North Region. Data was analysed, using a descriptive and regression method. The study found that the main objective of carrying out classroom management is to improve academic performance of students. The study found that to a great extent, teachers carry out Lesson Planning, Teaching Methodology, Communication Practices, Physical Resources, Managing Students Behaviour and Time management activities as part of their classroom management practices. The study established that the techniques of classroom management practices such as verbal instruction, disciplinary measures, instructional supervision, delegation of authority impact significantly on students’ academic performance. Challenges confronting classroom management discovered are: too much workload, inadequate learning materials and infrastructures, and students’ characteristics and needs. Stakeholders in Ghana’s education must take into account the heavy workload of teachers regarding their academic activities so that effective classroom management will not be compromised. Finally, the study recommends that administrators and management of Public Senior High Schools in Ghana must increase teachers’ supervision in order to ensure that teachers implement classroom management techniques as a means of improving students’ academic performance.
